Kenya Wilcox poetically named Songbyrd, is an up-and-coming poetess, songwriter, songstress and mother of a peculiarly brilliant toddler. Native to Birmingham, Alabama, Kenya obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Master’s degree at the University of Southern California in social work with concentration in mental health. Kenya now practices as a licensed social worker. During her collegiate years, Kenya became a member of the Eta Beta chapter of Phi Alpha Honor Society of Social Work. She is also an active member of the Honeydripper Collective known as Trinityxxx. For Kenya, there is nothing more important than being a phenomenal woman and mother as she values this role daily. Her dedication of love, spirituality, self-reflection, and having a vivid imagination, inspired her to write Byrdie's Songs: A Collection of Poetry.
