Violin Rock

The Colombian band Violin Rock was founded in 2011 by the renowned violinist David Rivera. Initially, Violin Rock started as an instrumental quartet, performing versions of great rock and pop classics from the 1970s and 1980s. Between 2012 and 2014, the band released two albums titled "Vol. 1" and "Heavy Metal Classics", which included versions of artists such as Eagles, Toto, Journey, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, and Pantera; among others. From 2021, the band decided to compose their own songs, influenced by genres like stoner and southern rock, where the violin stands out as a distinctive hallmark and common thread of their sound. This marked the first appearance of sung vocals in their music, adorned with deep lyrics full of messages of resilience, struggle, and freedom. While the band's basic instrumentation includes guitar, bass, and drums, a distinctive element is an electric violin with distortion, giving Violín Rock's music a unique coloration and sonic identity. In 2023, they released their first two original songs, "Droga Perfecta" (Perfect Drug). which includes a music video, and "Shadows".At the end of that year, Violin Rock had a successful performance at the International Altavoz Festival. Subsequently, in early 2024, they released "Fugitivo", their third single, before the launch of "No mires Atrás", a seven-song album that was released on May 24, consisting exclusively of their own music. The lead single from this album is the song "La Dama Blanca" (The White Lady). By the end of 2024, Violin Rock will release an English version of “Droga Perfecta”, featuring Canadian vocalist and songwriter Tim Steinruck (The Mighty One).
